Classics

These are my all time favorite cupcakes - chocolate with vanilla frosting & vanilla with chocolate frosting. Simple, nostalgic and delicious. I prefer cream cheese frosting with rich chocolate cake and the itty bity chocolate chips add an extra chocolate punch. The vanilla cupcakes are topped with bittersweet chocolate buttercream and a petite candy daisy.
I used my new photo studio in a box today to shoot these and I'm pretty happy with the outcome. I like to try to shoot in natural light, but by the time these were done it was too late. I think there may have a certain 3 year old's fingerprints on the lens making them a little fuzzy.

In Bloom

This cake was made for a baby shower, but I think it would be lovely for a casual Spring wedding. I can't believe that baby is almost 2!

Silver Anniversary

I was thrilled to make this cake for our good family friends, Sue & Stan to help them celebrate 25 great years together. Unfortunately, it was a gloomy day and the pictures are a little blah.

Mini Madness!

"The cupcakes were FANTASTIC! Please keep a record of my order so I can do it again sometime. The size was great for little kids. I particularly liked the strawberry (see, I told you the strawberry was good) but everyone had their faves. Thank you for everything!"

Sheet cakes are always a bit of a challenge for me to decorate - especially when they're for someone as cool as my friend, Tyson. I was pleased with the dotty design and I don't think anyone missed the goopy balloons.

Strawberry Obsession

I discovered fresh strawberry buttercream around Valentine's Day and it's become a bit of an obsession ever since. Fresh strawberry puree and homemade strawberry jam mixed into Swiss meringue buttercream = yummy!!


Personalized heart cookies were another Vday project.

Welcome to Cakewalk!

There are so many clever and insightful and heartwarming blogs out there that I feel a lot of pressure as a novice. I hate to break it to you - my blog is not going to be any of those things. It's all about cake, cake, cake - and cupcakes and occasionally a cookie or two. I might even include a picture of my kid now and then, but always eating cake so it's relevant. I hope you enjoy the pictures and aren't too disappointed by the prose. And by all means, give me a ring if I can make all of your cake wishes come true.
